Shaba Life Club
A performance-led fitness club in Istanbul finished to a hospitality standard. The sequence moves from an illuminated reception into clearly zoned training fields, each given its own character within a single material language.
A tiered spinning theatre is the signature space; a Pilates studio and a members’ lounge balance the intensity of the training floors. Services are built into the millwork and the machine islands, so that the floor reads clear and the club reads as one place.
DIUM / Shaba Life ClubA HOSPITALITY STANDARD FOR A PERFORMANCE CLUB.
Arrival
The club begins with light. An illuminated reception sets the standard of a hotel rather than a gym, and the route from it into the training floors is planned as a sequence — each zone announced before it is entered, none of them seen all at once.
The Training Fields
The training floors are zoned by intensity. Each field has its own character — the tiered spinning theatre is the signature, built to be performed in — but all of them share one material language, so that the club reads as one place rather than a set of separate facilities.
The Counterbalance
A Pilates studio and a members’ lounge take the slow end of the plan. Services are built into the millwork and the machine islands, so that the floors read clear and the equipment, not the ducting, is what a member sees. The intensity of the training is designed in; so is the quiet after it.
