Al Khattiya Projects
A forty-one-square-metre mall unit in Doha for a company that designs and builds bespoke traditional furniture and majlis interiors, designed with Grow Projects to work as office and showroom at once: reception, a consultation table, two workstations, and a pantry, in a narrow linear bay that could not afford to feel subdivided.
The unit does not display the brand; it demonstrates it. Three zones are set along a single spine, and the millwork portals that divide them are the company’s own product, so no area is spent on partitions alone. Every surface a client touches is an example of what the workshop makes, and the sale and the product happen in the same space. A company that sells craft cannot afford a busy interior: the palette is limited to a few surfaces, each executed at demonstration grade.
DIUM / Al Khattiya ProjectsTHE OFFICE IS THE PORTFOLIO.
Arrival
The frontage opens directly into reception. The identity is placed where the concourse sees it, before the visitor reaches the desk, and the first portal frames the view deeper into the unit — so that the visitor is inside the company’s material world from the first step.
Consultation
The centre of the bay is its largest zone and the one the ceiling works hardest for. A three-metre consultation table, inlaid with the faceted marquetry the company crafts, is the showpiece: sold by being used. Samples move from the shelving on either side to the table in one gesture, and a leather-wrapped coffer lowers the ceiling over the zone to the intimacy of a majlis, marking the most important space in the unit without a single wall.
Back Of House
Behind the client zones, the operation takes the minimum area the programme allows — two workstations across a shared desk, a pantry, and the existing WC absorbed into the back of the plan — and keeps the same material discipline as the front. Nothing in the unit is off-brand, including the parts clients rarely see.
